Dongshan Island: The Sky Realm
We first came to Dongshan Island on the southeast coast of Fujian Province. The island is surrounded by the sea, with the natural scenery of the sky and rich marine culture. Walk barefoot on the beach and feel the healing power of the waves.
On the island, team competition games, yacht trips, diving, sea fishing, etc. were organized. While relaxing, the team’s collaboration ability was also strengthened. Every successful capture and every wave impact made us feel the power and fun of teamwork.
Yongding Chuxi Tulou: A symbol of wisdom and unity
Leaving Dongshan Island, we went to Yongding Chuxi Tulou, which was an amazing cultural journey. Chuxi Tulou, with its unique round and square architectural forms, demonstrates the wisdom and team spirit of ancient people’s architecture.
Chuxi Tulou consists of dozens of earthen buildings of various shapes, among which the most eye-catching are the round ones. Walking into a round earthen building, we were immediately shocked by its magnificent structure. The walls of these earthen buildings are thick and solid, with the thickest part at the bottom reaching two meters, and gradually becoming thinner as they go up, ensuring the stability and defensiveness of the building. Inside the earthen building is a spacious patio, surrounded by circles of rooms, each with different functions.
We strolled through these ancient buildings, as if we had traveled back hundreds of years, feeling how people at that time created these miracles with wisdom and unity. Walking into the earthen building, we were surrounded by a strong local cultural atmosphere. The ancient murals on the walls depict the daily life and historical stories of the ancestors, and the unique architectural structure all demonstrates the wisdom and creativity of the ancients.
These earthen buildings are not only places to live, but also symbols of family unity. Dozens of families live in each earthen building, and everyone lives together and takes care of each other. We heard from the teacher that the design of the earth building not only takes into account the convenience of daily life, but also has a defensive function. The tall outer walls and only a few small windows have enabled the earth building to resist the invasion of foreign enemies many times in history. It is currently listed as a world intangible cultural heritage.
Zhangzhou Puppet Show: The Charm and Inheritance of Ancient Art
Zhangzhou Puppet Show, originated in Zhangzhou, Fujian, has a history of thousands of years. As one of the treasures of Chinese traditional culture, its unique artistic charm and rich historical heritage have attracted countless audiences. The puppets of Zhangzhou puppet show are finely made and lifelike. Puppet artists use superb operating skills to enable puppets to flexibly complete various complex movements, thus giving the puppets vitality. The performance of puppet show not only relies on hand operation, but also includes ventriloquism, singing and musical instruments, making the whole performance rich in layers and artistic appeal.
The repertoire of Zhangzhou puppet show is rich and diverse, with both traditional historical stories and myths and legends, as well as themes reflecting modern life. Through these stories, the audience can not only appreciate the exquisite skills, but also feel the strong cultural atmosphere and rich emotional expression.
In order to keep this ancient art alive, many inheritors of Zhangzhou puppetry continue to innovate and explore. While retaining the traditional essence, they incorporate modern elements, making new breakthroughs in the content and form of puppetry.
This time, I had the opportunity to experience the exquisite performance of puppetry in person, with constant applause on the spot, and I also personally experienced puppet operation, which benefited me a lot.
Team activities and cultural integration
We tasted traditional Hakka food together in the earth building. Many film and television works were filmed here, and we are proud of our country’s culture. The integration of nature and humanity allows us to understand the wisdom of the ancients and inject new vitality into our team. It is also a spiritual baptism, allowing us to grow together in communication and cooperation and meet future challenges.
